The short answer

  • Where: in person at 910 Park Avenue, Upper East Side.
  • Who: a licensed provider, under the medical oversight of Dr. Alexander Golberg.
  • What: hair history and goals, HairMetrix scalp imaging, baseline photography, and a personalized plan.
  • Cost: $495 $299, credited toward your first treatment.
  • Candidacy is decided in person. If you are not a candidate, you are told so.

Why start with an assessment?

Hair loss has many causes, including hereditary pattern loss, shedding after illness, stress, or childbirth, nutritional and thyroid problems, and inflammatory conditions.1 Dermatology guidance stresses finding the cause before choosing treatment.2 An assessment is how a plan gets matched to the cause rather than to an advertisement.

What happens, step by step

  1. History and goals. When the change started, family history, recent illness, pregnancy, medications, diet changes, and what you would like to change.
  2. Scalp imaging. HairMetrix captures magnified images of the scalp and reports measurements such as hair density, shaft thickness, and the ratio of terminal to vellus hairs.
  3. Baseline photography. Standardized photos record your starting point, so later comparisons do not rely on memory.
  4. Clinical review. The provider reviews the history and images together. HairMetrix is a measuring tool; it does not diagnose and does not replace the provider.
  5. Your plan. You leave with the imaging and a personalized plan. If MOHR treatment is a fit, the provider explains the options and costs. If it is not, you are told so, and other routes may be discussed.

What the assessment does not do

There are no needles and no downtime at the assessment itself. It is not a treatment session. Some situations call for laboratory tests or a further medical evaluation; MOHR offers a separate Diagnostic Hair-Loss Evaluation with physician review when clinically appropriate, with external lab charges disclosed separately.

How to prepare

  • Bring a list of your medications and supplements.
  • Note when you first noticed a change and any events in the months before it.
  • Older photos of your hair can help show change over time.
  • Ask the clinic about any hair-care instructions before imaging.

HairCheck or assessment?

HairCheck is a complimentary first step: you send three photos for a preliminary review by the MOHR team. It is not a diagnosis. The assessment is the in-person visit where measurement, clinical review, and candidacy happen. See the HairCheck guide for how to take useful photos. Comparing options?
