About MOHR

Built on 25+ years of physician-led care.

MOHR Hair is a physician-founded, non-surgical hair restoration practice in New York City. It was founded by Alexander GolBerg, MD, DO, a New York physician with more than 25 years of clinical experience across functional, regenerative, longevity-focused and non-surgical medicine.

His philosophy became the foundation of MOHR: understand what is changing. Measure it. Then decide how to treat it.

Why MOHR exists

Why MOHR exists.

Hair loss is often treated as though every patient has the same problem. They don't.

Changes in density, shedding, scalp health, genetics, age, hormones, nutrition, stress, medication, weight change and underlying health can all influence what a patient is experiencing. Two people with a widening part can be dealing with different things.

MOHR was built around a different starting point: before choosing a treatment, understand the patient. Instead of asking “what treatment can we sell?”, MOHR asks “what is actually changing, and what may be contributing to it?”

That philosophy comes directly from the way Dr. GolBerg has practiced medicine for more than two decades, combining functional, regenerative, osteopathic and longevity-focused thinking with non-surgical treatment.

The MOHR philosophy

Measured first. Treated second.

“Measured first. Treated second.” means no treatment is chosen before the change has been documented. MOHR brings that philosophy to modern hair restoration through objective hair analysis, provider evaluation, personalized treatment planning and longitudinal tracking, beginning with the in-person MOHR Hair Assessment.

More than 25 years at the intersection of function, regeneration, longevity and non-surgical medicine.

Dr. Alexander GolBerg, MD, DO is the founder and medical director of MOHR Hair and a New York physician with more than 25 years of clinical experience.

His clinical career has centered on a whole-patient approach to medicine, bringing together functional medicine, regenerative medicine, osteopathic principles, preventative and longevity-focused care, and non-surgical aesthetic treatments.

Dr. GolBerg holds two medical degrees: an MD from St. Petersburg Medical Academy and a DO from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a fellowship through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and served as chief resident at Peninsula Hospital. Castle Connolly has recognized him as a Top Doctor since 2024.

Over the course of his career, his work has increasingly focused on the relationship between biological health, aging, regeneration, appearance and function. Hair and scalp health are a recurring part of that work: in independent coverage he has discussed regenerative, non-surgical approaches to thinning hair, scalp health and the scalp microbiome, and shedding after rapid weight loss.

MOHR applies that philosophy specifically to hair and scalp health: measure the change, understand the patient, select treatment thoughtfully, and track what happens over time.

From whole-person medicine to hair

Hair is not separate from the rest of you.

MOHR was created from a broader medical philosophy: visible changes can sometimes be influenced by what is happening elsewhere in the body.

Hair concerns may involve factors such as genetics, age, hormones, stress, nutrition, medications, rapid weight change, scalp health and other clinical considerations. Many cases are pattern hair loss and nothing more; some are not. That is why MOHR does not begin by assuming every patient needs the same procedure.

The process begins with observation and measurement. At the in-person assessment, MOHR uses HairMetrix scalp imaging to record objective measurements such as density and hair-shaft thickness. Then, when clinically appropriate, the team considers the broader patient context before developing an individualized plan.

  1. Measure

    Objective imaging and baseline documentation.

  2. Understand

History, pattern, progression and relevant patient factors.

  3. Treat

A personalized approach rather than a universal protocol.

  4. Track

Repeat measurements to understand change over time.

Why this experience matters

The physician behind the philosophy.

MOHR is not built around a single injection, device, supplement or trend. Treatments evolve. Medical evidence evolves. Technology evolves. The underlying approach remains the same:

  1. Understand what is happening.
  2. Measure it objectively.
  3. Select treatment thoughtfully.
  4. Track the response.

That is the philosophy Dr. GolBerg brought to MOHR. Today, MOHR's treatment programs combine non-surgical options such as PRF, low-level laser therapy and, in some programs, exosome adjunctive treatment and a hair-growth IV, and every program is measured against the patient's own baseline. You can see what that looks like in MOHR's before-and-after results.

MOHR is the brand; Dr. GolBerg is its founder. MOHR is a dedicated hair-health and restoration practice with its own team, assessment and programs. Care is delivered in person by licensed MOHR providers under Dr. GolBerg's medical direction.

Principles

The MOHR Standard.

Principle 01

Measure before treating.

Start with evidence, not assumptions.

Principle 02

Personalize the plan.

Hair loss is not one condition, and patients are not interchangeable.

Principle 03

Track what changes.

Baseline measurements create something meaningful to compare against over time.

Principle 04

Know when not to treat.

A credible clinical practice should be willing to tell a patient when a treatment is not appropriate. A patient who is not a candidate is told so.

Questions, answered

About MOHR, briefly.

Who founded MOHR Hair?

MOHR Hair was founded by Alexander GolBerg, MD, DO, a New York physician with more than 25 years of clinical experience. He is MOHR's founder and medical director.

What is Dr. Alexander GolBerg's background?

Dr. GolBerg is a New York physician with more than 25 years of clinical experience in functional, regenerative, osteopathic, longevity-focused and non-surgical aesthetic medicine. He holds an MD from St. Petersburg Medical Academy and a DO from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed a fellowship through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, and served as chief resident at Peninsula Hospital.

Why does MOHR measure hair before recommending treatment?

Because hair loss is not one condition. Objective imaging records a baseline, helps the provider understand the pattern, and gives something real to compare against later, rather than relying on memory or bathroom lighting.

Where is MOHR Hair located?

910 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10075, on Manhattan's Upper East Side. All care is delivered in person there.

What is a MOHR Hair Assessment?

An in-person appointment with a licensed provider: a review of your hair history and goals, HairMetrix scalp imaging with objective measurements, and a personalized plan. The fee is $299, credited toward your first treatment. Read more about the assessment.

Is the complimentary HairCheck a diagnosis?

No. A HairCheck is a preliminary review of three photos and a little context. It is not a diagnosis, not a medical consultation and not a treatment recommendation. It helps you decide whether an in-person evaluation may be worth considering.

What types of hair concerns does MOHR evaluate?

Thinning and hair loss in men and women, including a widening part, a receding hairline, a thinning crown, general thinning and increased shedding. Some concerns need a different kind of care, and the assessment is where that is decided.
